150th Anniversary Celebration at Togus Sept 17th
The VA Medical Center Togus is 150 years old this fall. They are having a party this Saturday September 17th. Togus is a cool place with a lot of history. They take care of our veterans and do so in a beautiful place. The Togus campus is lovely.
According to centralmaine.com, Saturday starts at 9 with trolley tours and fun stuff for the kids. There is also a historical encampment that will be going on. There is a parade that starts around 10. Then there will be music and a cookout as well as a dedication of a memory garden and veterans tree.
The National Cemetery is breathtaking. If you visit the west cemetery they have a number of signs talking about the how and why of those. Well worth the visit to learn about some local history.
