30 Years Later, Cabbage Patch Kids Still Have Fans

30 YEARS!? How did that happen.  Anyway....I have learned, nestled in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains, Babyland General Hospital, the birthplace of Cabbage Patch Kids, is still keeping the magic alive.

Inside, Mother Cabbage sits at the base of the Magic Crystal Tree. When the crystals at the base of the tree begin to glow, visitors gather to watch the birth of one of the chubby-cheeked dolls.

While mass-market dolls similar to the ones that sparked a frenzy 30 years ago are still available, collectors come from all over the country several times a year to snag a limited edition, hand-stitched Cabbage Patch doll.

The "adoption" fee for these unique dolls is more than $200 when they're new. But those dating back to the late 1970s and early 1980s can sell for tens of thousands of dollars.
