Nathaniel White

Teacher/Coach

Boys and Girls Club and YMCA of Greater Waterville

Nathaniel has dedicated his life to working with children and serving the community. Nathaniel has worked for the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA of Greater Waterville at the Alfond Youth Center for quite a while. He started there in 2004 in the After School Program and with the Summer Enrichment Camp and then left briefly for a different career path in law enforcement and he also taught at Waldo County Tech Center. He came back to the Alfond Youth Center in 2010 as the American Heritage Tour Director/ Project Graduation Coordinator and Rental Supervisor. As the American Heritage Tour Director,  Nathaniel takes 8th graders on a trip of a lifetime to Washington DC, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Amish Country and New York City. He covers middle schools from Dexter to Auburn and everywhere in between. His dedication with that program is exceptional. I am sure Nathaniel has made a difference in the lives of over 200 children in his career history. It doesn’t stop there, Nathaniel White was a call firefighter for the city of Waterville for 9 years, and now he currently serves on the Waterville Planning Board. Nathaniel also works with the local school systems as a coach. In the past year, Nathaniel has coached at Vassalboro Community School, he coached the boys’ soccer team, the JV girls' basketball team, and the baseball team. Nathaniel has also worked with the Waterville school system as the Class of 2013 advisor and videographer with the Waterville High School football team for the past 11 years. Nathaniel also works for Inland Hospital, in the registration department, dedicating whatever free time he has to pick up shifts there to make a brighter day for patients.

His work in the community is endless and he is out to make a difference, as much as he does to keep this community safe and being a role model for the area children is a strong sense of what kind of person he is! Nathaniel does all this with his enthusiastic, humble and positive attitude. If anyone deserves the hometown hero its Nathaniel White. Nathaniel is all around a great guy and one of the nicest guys I have ever met, he would do anything for anyone, and he truly deserves to be recognized as a hometown hero.
