A New Haunt Comes to South China Thursday; The Grain Room Lounge! [Video]

When Lisa Wardwell purchased the China Dine-ah from Norm Elvin earlier this year, she knew she was going to add a lounge. After all, the lounge at her Augusta eatery, Lisa's Restaurant, is very popular and there had never been anything like it in the China Lakes Region. The closest thing ever was Nick and Nora's in Vassalboro, which has been gone for years.

Beginning at 4pm Thursday (September 4th), the first of many food and beverage orders will be served to the public.

I remember the room as storage for beer and supplies for the restaurant...basically, a closet. Prior to that, it was a...get ready...GRAIN ROOM for Dowe's True Value Hardware (later China Lake Hardware) which occupied the main part of the building, which is now the China Dine-ah.

Make no mistake about it, The Grain Room will be as much a part of the Dine-ah as the overflow seating that was added on shortly after Norm bought the building. You'll be able to order food from the regular menu and see much of the same wait staff. Pretty exciting to have such a place to go kick back after work. Plus, you'll be able to hear your favorite tunes because Lisa is adding a Juke Box with a photo booth!
