This summer I decided to have some fun with my hair. It started with a rainbow of color. After that faded we had enough dye left to do a green, blue and purple mix all over my head.  Gotta say, I loved that mix. But what has been the best is how the color of my hair has affected my interactions with people. Most of them have been AMAZING!

When you have purple, green and blue hair people think you know stuff. They start conversations and will ask questions. Questions that may or may not have anything to do with the hair. But I think it’s because it makes one more approachable.  After all, you do not dye your hair green, blue and purple if you are looking to avoid attention. And they want to talk about themselves too! So it has been a fun conversation starter.

I have only had a few ‘odd’ experiences. I was having lunch at the county club and this man kept staring at me!  Everything about me was county club appropriate, just my tailored hair style was a rainbow!  He kept checking it out. But the best ‘odd’ reaction was a young woman running the cash register at a store. She looks up and says “you hair is a rainbow!” We do the transaction and then she says “how is your hair cooler than mine?” ALLRIGHTY THEN! Well, maybe I am old enough to be your mom, but maybe I am just that cool?!

The most fun was a young teenager girl who saw me at a live radio broadcast. She kept looking at me. Finally she came over and said she loved my hair.  She was very sweet and I hope she knows you can be silly and professional and an adult and have fun all at the same time.

Even my MOTHER said she liked it!  That blew my mind. But it will have to go away soon. It takes a long time to do and does not last a long time. Maybe next summer, we will meet again blue, green and purple hair. It has been a ton of fun!
