Good news, Adele fans, which is pretty much the entire population of the free world. The British diva is working on her new album, the follow-up to the best-selling '21,' and it could be out as soon as mid-2014.

The Mirror (quotes via Gigwise) claims that the singer and Oscar winner is currently in "lockdown mode" at a London recording studio working on some tracks. That's a very good thing!

A source said that "four tracks are finished in terms of writing and she’s now laying down preliminary vocals with backing music and singers." That's an ever better thing.

The rest of the album will be recorded in Los Angeles.

The source also offered some details on what the record will sound like. "The feel is very much Adele going back to her roots, with some modern jazz and a couple of classic old songs," the insider said.

Whatever Adele does, it'll be awesome. You'll get no complaints from us. As they often say on reality singing competition shows, Adele could sing the phone book, a menu or the Declaration of Independence, and it would sound incredible.

Now if only she'd tell us what she named her son, who was born in October....
