Alicia Keys is certainly on fire and she's dressed in a red hot strapless gown for the cover of Essence magazine's January 2013 issue. The 14-time Grammy Award-winning songbird is having a fantastic year so far and is looking forward to 2013.

In the magazine, the R&B mom talks about juggling her career and motherhood. Keys, who is a doting mom to 2-year-old Egypt and loving wife to producer Swizz Beatz, admits that being a superwoman has it limits.

"It’s okay if I can’t do every single thing," she tells the magazine. "I finally understand that it doesn’t make me a lesser artist or human being."

Keys also talks about surviving Hurricane Sandy when it hit New York this past October. During the treacherous storm, her and Swizzy hunkered down in their SoHo home, but after the electricity went out, Alicia knew it was time to leave.

"After the third or fourth tuna fish sandwich, and after we learned we’d be without power for a week, I called my mother, who lives Uptown," she recalled. "She was okay and hadn't lost any power, so we ended up going to her house. We were pretty lucky."

There's one more thing Keys can be grateful for: The 'New Day' singer notched her fifth No. 1 album with her latest effort 'Girl on Fire.' The collection pushed 150,000 copies in its first week of release. It's safe to say that Keys is on a hot streak.

Essence magazine's January 2013 issue, featuring Alicia Keys on the cover, arrives on newsstands this Friday (Dec. 7).
