Amanda Bynes Style Breakdown – What’s Right, What’s Wrong, and How to Fix It

We recognize the irony in doing a Style Breakdown on troubled actress Amanda Bynes -- especially since it appears to everyone (but her) that she's having the most epic of public "I can't deal with fame" mental breakdowns.

However, Bynes' look has changed pretty drastically, so we felt compelled to point out what's right -- there actually are some things she does well -- and what's wrong. And no, it's not just the obvious, either.

In 2009, Bynes showed off her tight bod in a black body-con dress and glossy platform stilettos. She looked gorgeous here, although she might disagree.

This is Bynes in 2013, getting arrested and wearing a nappy platinum wig. Yes, we still wonder how she got here.

What's Right:

She's still rocking major accessories, like this huge gold Louis Vuitton bag. That thing ain't cheap. So Bynes' bank account still has some loot in it (even if it isn't Olsen twin cash). All hope is not lost.

Statement accessories, like the giant shades, work for her -- even if the wigs don't.

Bynes is certainly keeping in shape -- too much so, sometimes. And when others aren't documenting it, she is.

This leather and denim ensemble is quite Lohan'ish, but it also looks like something Bynes' frenemy Rihanna would wear.

When she first moved to NYC, Bynes' style was cute and trendy, the epitome of urban chic, thanks to her platform sneakers and layers. She could revisit this look, without becoming "Old Amanda," the one she doesn't like (and that she allegedly had a plastic surgeon erase).

What's Wrong:

Ghetto fab, booty bouncing Bynes. We can all agree that this is meant to shock. And it's cartoonish.

Gymwear on the street is never a good look.

How to Fix It:

We don't expect her to return to this, since, frankly, after her ghetto fab exploits, it's a little boring. But we do love her pairing of teal tassled shoes with a beige Herve Leger dress.

Her body looks great just as it is. She simply needs to dress it properly.

While some people have questioned the cheek piercings, they're not that much different than tattoos. She just has bling on her face. It's not a look that everyone can pull off, but it's also not as outrageous as it may seem, especially if you're into counterculture looks.

All in all, Bynes could make a style comeback, and a career comeback too -- other performers have certainly recovered from worse public meltdowns. The first hurdle, though, is getting her to admit she needs the help.
