AMC’s ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ Trailer: Lee Pace Is Ready to Break Some Rules

AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead‘ season 4 finale was a big night in more ways than one, especially in terms of sneak peeks at upcoming shows and movies. Aside from new looks at ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,’ ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past‘ and ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction,’ viewers also got to see the first trailer for the network’s new original series ‘Halt and Catch Fire,’ which stars ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ and ‘The Hobbit‘ actor Lee Pace.

‘Halt and Catch Fire’ is set in the 1980s against the backdrop of the personal computing boom. The series was created by Chris Cantwell and Chris Rodgers with Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein (‘Breaking Bad’) as executive producers. AMC officially describes the series as such:

‘Halt and Catch Fire’ is set roughly one year after IBM all but corners the market with the release of its first major product – the IBM PC. In this fictional drama, a former IBM executive, Joe MacMillan (Lee Pace) plans to reverse engineer the flagship product of his former employer and forces his current company, Cardiff Electric, into the personal computer race. MacMillan enlists the help of Gordon Clark (Scoot McNairy), a once great engineer who dreams of creating a revolutionary product while trying to manage his initially unsupportive wife Donna (Kerry Bishé), and Cameron Howe (Mackenzie Davis), a volatile prodigy who puts her future in jeopardy to join MacMillan’s rogue PC project. ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ thrives on the spirit of innovation and explores what it’s like to stand at the forefront of something world-changing and work towards it, no matter the risk.

The first ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ trailer, though brief, features our first looks at Pace as his Steve Jobs-meets-Don Draper character, Joe MacMillan, as well as Scoot McNairy (who you’ll recognize from Ben Affleck‘s ‘Argo‘ and as the journalist in Marvel One-Shot ‘All Hail the King‘) as Gordon Clark, and Mackenzie Davis (recently seen in ‘That Awkward Moment‘) as Cameron Howe, the latter giving us a little bit of a young rocker version of Mrs. Underwood with that haircut.

‘Halt and Catch Fire’ premieres Sunday, June 1 at 10 p.m. EST on AMC, but in the meantime, let us know in the comments what you think of the first trailer. Think it’s worth your time?
