If you noticed that Anne Hathaway's Oscar acceptance speech was less full of fake breathless surprise and more full of thanks, that's because she practiced it again and again after taking criticism for her Golden Globes, SAG and BAFTA speeches.

And rightly so. The shock and awe wasn't fooling anybody, and instead Anne came off as annoying and artificial. So she set out to change that.

According a source, Anne practiced extra hard because the negative reaction hurt her feelings. "She was very aware that she had been the butt of everyone's jokes,” the insider said.

In addition to worrying about her speech, Anne worried about her dress choice, which left her selecting one with unfortunate darts around her boobs just hours before the ceremony.

"My dress is Prada and I didn't know what I was wearing until about 3 hours ago," she admitted to Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet.

Apparently Anne had four dresses in the running, including one by Valentino (which issued a press release saying she'd be wearing one of its creations, oops). But Hathaway says she ultimately chose the pink Prada disaster because, "It was the one that spoke to me."

If only Anne had spoken fluent designer gown she would have understood that it was saying, “Don't pick me! Someone will make a Twitter account for your nipples!"
