On this date back in 1931, the Empire State Building opened. It was either May 1st or 2nd of 1987 we went to the skyscraper’s observation deck on a class trip. That 9th grade class trip went from April 29 through May 9th and would have taken us two to three days to get to New York, but anyway it was fun.
3 weeks ago My wife and I drive by Whiting Farm on Summer St. in Auburn every day on our way to Shaw’s, BJ’s and more recently, with our many trips to Home Depot and Lowe’s. About two weeks ago, Lynn was wondering if Whiting Farm would open this year as we drove by the place on one of those trips to Mount Auburn Ave. The answer is no.

3 weeks ago Today, April 30, is 'National Hairstyle and Hairstylist Appreciation Day.' In my life, I have had hairstyles ranging from the bowl cut, spiky, a mullet, tapered back and sides, long with no bangs, parts, no parts, sideburns on as well as sideburns off. It’s a rather difficult task keeping up with hairstyles. There was the wet gel look, hairspray, big hair and subdued styles. Styles ebb andflow.
3 weeks ago Last night I drove to the scene of the Lewiston apartment fire. It was dark and smoky and I really couldn't get a good concept of how bad the blaze was, so I went again this morning. Oh my word, what a sad sight of charred remains, half standing buildings and melted roofs.

A massive fire can beseen from quite a distance and is raging out of control in Lewiston at 111 Blake Street. Be careful driving through the area if you have go through that part of Lewiston as there are firefighters from Lewiston and surrounding towns battling the blaze.
3 weeks ago Roger Clemens, aka “The Rocket” pitched on this day back in 1986 for the Boston Red Sox. Yes, it was the year they went to the World Series and lost to the Mets in 7, but I’m not here to bring up old pain especially after the Sox are 18-7 so far for the month of April.
3 weeks ago Just curious of your thoughts about this. At what age does your child "age out" of this parent/member with infant parking spot? When I hear the word "infant" in think of a baby who can't walk yet. However if you still often to always carry your child through a parking lot because of drivers not seemingly watching by being preoccupied with grabbing a parking spot, then is it okay?
