I am the News Director for the Townsquare Media/Augusta-Waterville stations and also the host of our public affairs show, "Issues," Sunday mornings! Make sure you come say "Hi" to me at one of our many live local broadcasts.
The Messalonskee Robotics team has qualified once again for the world championships in St. Louis, Missouri. They became the District Championships after they won the Regional Chairman's Award. This Award is what qualified them to attend the World Championship. The team will be leaving for the World Championships in St. Louis, Missouri tomorrow morning (April 22, 2014). Once in St. Louis, there will be 30 teams from New England attending the championships, and 400 teams over all. Messalonskee will have around 10 qualification matches!
We have been doing a series of shows this year on issues surrounding domestic violence. It has been fascinating to learn about the Family Violence Project and its history. It is amazing how much FVP does in our community. This show focuses on the question that always seems to be asked ‘why does she stay’. There is no one answer. BUT one big factor in the equation is the kids. Let’s hear more about how to be supportive of a person in an abusive situation.
Peeps. Most people seem to love OR hate them. My Mom loves them. Me? Not so much. But I will be the first to admit Peeps have become a cultural phenomenon! Here are some fun Peep facts for YOU! Eat them, craft with them or microwave them..what ever you choose to do with them...enjoy!
I was so very happy to have the snow all melted from my yard. As I was out there checking out my back yard I noticed all these holes. They are about the size of an egg and I could see how ‘something’ had busted out of there because there was a little dirt/grass flaps that was still there. When I say I noticed the holes, I mean hundreds of them and in various locations!!
Thank you to everyone who showed up and cleaned and raked and made the Augusta Dog Park Clean Up Day a totally success.Jon and Mac jumped right in raking and scooping up the 'stuff''. The Red Barn Cares Foundation was a big help in getting out the word and rallying the troops! In less than two hours it was all raked and ready for its next step. The ADP will be open Tuesday morning (April 15th) at 9am!
If you listen to the 92 Moose Morning Show, you may have heard us talking about Flat Stanley. We have ALOT of Flat Stanleys thanks to Pittston School! They had send Jon a Flat Stanley earlier this year. Well, he had a few adventures, but went missing! So Pittston School student solved that problem with a PILE of Flat Stanleys. As Stanley has an adventure, we post him and a picture on our office wall!
This week started off with some good news for Renee's boyfriend, Patrick, the chemotherapy for his non-Hodgkins Lymphoma is working!! His doc at the Alfond Cancer Center, Abby Thrower, was very happy to share the news with us.(and we were very happy to hear it) Where the first scan before treatment showed his lymph nodes all red and orange (reacting with the contrast stuff) this time, they were faint shades of a reddish color, if anything at all. Win!
