When Avril Lavigne finally gets around to joining Instagram, she makes sure people notice.

For her first-ever post today (Aug. 8) on her brand-new account, the singer revealed the cover artwork of her upcoming, self-titled album.

"Thanks to all my fans for the amazing support!" Av wrote along with the photo. "Here's an exclusive look at the cover of my new, self-titled album!"

The image itself is stark, with a closeup of the singer's face highlighted against a black background. With her slicked-back hair and raccoon-esque eye makeup, the very grownup-looking star resembles nothing so much as a high-fashion runway model. She also looks as distant (or is it bored?) as one.

Avril has already released a pair of singles from the new disc -- 'Here's to Never Growing Up' and 'Rock N Roll.' The album, out Sept. 24, will be her fifth overall, and her first for Epic Records.
