The Baltimore Ravens have terminated the contract of running back Ray Rice in the wake of new video evidence showing him hitting his then-fiancee in an elevator in Atlantic City in February.A report on the Ravens' official website said the team made the decision to release Rice after the new video surfaced.

According to a report on NFL.com, shortly after the Ravens announced the release, a league spokesman announced that Rice has been suspended from the league indefinitely. The NFL said the league had not seen the new video prior to suspending Rice for two games for the incident in July.

The NFL.com report said Rice was entering his seventh season in Baltimore. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection who signed a five-year, $40 million contract extension in July 2012.
