The Bangor Police Department's bomb squad responded today (April 23) to a report of a grenade. A member of the public works crew discovered the grenade at 10:30 a.m. at the bottom of Davis Street and Main Street, behind an auto parts store.

Some roads were closed and the bomb squad brought in equipment to neutralize the grenade.

The grenade was removed safely and placed in a containment vessel around noon. The intersection has been re-opened for traffic.
