State Sen. Justin Alfond from Portland says he will introduce a bill on today to return Maine to the primary process for both parties. According to WMTW,  Alfond, a Democrat, announced Sunday during the party's caucuses that he would submit the bill. In primaries, parties cast votes as they would on Election Day, and the election is conducted by state and municipal officials. The last time Maine held presidential primaries was in 2000.

Alfond said it is time to re-open dialogue about best way forward. In Portland the wait was long and party officials opted to allow people to fill out ballots and leave in an effort to alleviate congestion. Republicans held their caucuses on Saturday and saw triple the turnout from 2012. (WMTW)
