UPDATE 11:24AM: State Police say both northbound lanes of the Maine Turnpike in Farmingdale have reopened following this morning’s tractor trailer crash.
According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, the wreck has been removed after causing delays on both sides for nearly ten hours. The passing lane along the southbound side will remain closed throughout the day for crews to repair the median guardrail.  Both northbound lanes are expected to remain open as that work takes place during the day.

State Police say traffic on the Maine Turnpike has been reduced to one lane both north and south in Farmingdale today following a tractor trailer crash early this morning.

Long backups are expected throughout the day, McCausland said.  The truck, loaded with French fries, struck the guardrail in the median just after 1am, near the Northern Ave. overpass.  The truck came to rest on its side on top of the guardrails. Crews have worked for hours to remove the truck and those efforts are still underway.  Turnpike crews will then begin to replace more than 100 feet of guardrail and traffic in both directions will be disrupted for the rest of the day.   Troopers said the driver , 44 year old Duncan MacPhee from Cornwall,  Prince Edward Island, fell asleep.  Both the driver and his passenger were not injured.
