At Least 25 People Injured In NYC Explosion
UPDATE @ 12:18 AM - Law enforcement officials now say 29 people were injured in the Saturday evening blast. One of those people was injured quite seriously. Additionally, a second explosive device has been found a few blocks from the initial explosion. This device is said to be a "pressure cooker" similar to what was usesd in the Boston Marathon bombing.
UPDATE @ 11:35 PM - New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says the explosion appears to be have been "intentional".
According to Fox News, several dozen people have been injured in an explosion in New York City. The explosion, which witnesses described as being very forceful, took place just prior to 8:40 this evening on West 23rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.
Fortunately, none of the injuries were life threatening. Police have blocked off the streets and are investigating. According to NYC Councilman Corey Johnson, the FBI and federal Homeland Security officials were on the scene, in addition to New York City police.
Investigators are not speculating about the cause of the explosion.
Earlier today, a planned charity run for Marines and sailors was canceled after a pipe bomb exploded in Seaside Park, New Jersey.
