Britney Spears' infamous conservatorship may be coming to an end exactly a decade after the pop singer's father, Jamie Spears, took a court-approved lead over his daughter's life.

Us Weekly has reported that Britney, who'll soon kick off a brand new leg of her Las Vegas residency, is in the early stages of regaining total authority over her life and will undergo evaluation that will determine whether she's in a position to be her own authority again.

“Jamie is actively consulting with Britney’s medical team to determine if the conservatorship of Britney as the person should finally come to an end,” a source told the site. “It’s just a question of timing as she is about to begin the tour, so the thinking is to do it at the conclusion.”

“She is feeling confident enough to take control of her life again,” another source told the site in a different story last month. “The progress Britney has made just in the last several years has been tremendous.”

Britney's conservatorship was first enacted after a public-facing 2007 meltdown and divorce from ex-husband Kevin Federline. The agreement explicitly states that "due to an undisclosed mental illness and past substance abuse, Britney cannot make personal or financial decisions without the approval of her father and lawyer Andrew Wallet."

Britney's ex David Lucado claimed in a 2016 New York Times interview that Britney was more than ready to end the conservatorship.

“If anyone knew the real Britney, they would know that she would rather be remembered for being the great mother she is rather than the artist she is,” he said. "And if anyone could see her interactions with her kids, they would know that there is no need for a conservatorship over Britney’s personal life.”
