Bryan Keith Advances With ‘Santeria’ for Team Adam as Collin McLoughlin Gets Stolen on ‘The Voice’
Bryan Keith advanced on Adam Levine’s team on ‘The Voice’ tonight (Oct. 8) after a face-off with teammate Collin McLoughlin. However, there was a surprise twist thrown in at the end of the battle round, and one of the other judges stole McLoughlin from Levine to prevent his elimination.
The singers were coached by Levine and guest advisor Mary J. Blige as they geared up for their performance of Sublime's 'Santeria.' While McLoughlin was praised for having nearly perfect pitch as well as technique, Keith really did justice to the original version of the song with his relaxed stage presence and raspy vocals.
Once the song was over, Blake Shelton complimented McLoughlin on his practically flawless voice. He went on to say, “You have completely different types of voices but still there’s a laid back, fun side of what y’all do.” Christina Aguilera chimed in with, “Bryan, you had more swag on it; there's a great, raspy tone to your voice.” Cee Lo Green agreed. “Bryan has this cool, chillaxed kind of vibe," he said. "I think that’s the way Sublime’s song is supposed to be done."
Levine had a tough choice to make, but he ultimately decided on Keith as the winner. However, before McLoughlin could finish delivering his farewell speech, Cee Lo and Shelton both hit their ‘steal’ buttons, presenting McLoughlin with a chance to stay in the competition.
“I know for a fact that you’re much better than that performance,” Cee Lo remarked with confidence. But the singer chose Shelton’s team in the end, recognizing that the country star had remained an avid supporter of his talents ever since his performance in the battle round.
“I thought I was dead in the water. I’m so happy to be on Blake’s team; I’m so psyched!” McLoughlin exclaimed.
