As the year closes and a new one starts we do two things generally, we look back to what happened the past year and we look ahead to the next. Maybe we set resolutions or goals and we hope others do better as well. How about 2012? Yes we made it through, apocalypse and all.

What were some of your  highlights from this past year? This past year was kind of focused on the kids, at least that's the way it looks from reviewing my status updates on Facebook. We spent a lot of time freezing Sunday mornings at the Sports Zone in Saco with Justin's basketball. It was fun to watch him play but they could have turned up the heat a few degrees.

We did a weekend at an indoor water park in

No. Conway, NH back in March. We had a ton of fun there that weekend. I would totally recommend going.

We spent most of the spring this year house hunting. We finally bought one in June after years and years of renting. A fixer-upper I guess in good condition. We had to remodel the bathroom and will have to tweak and customize a few things over the next few years but all in all it's a good house.

Some other highlights from 2012, Vikki started walking and talking. Now Vikki's all over the place and you can't keep her quiet. Dylan was in the Lewiston-Auburn Memorial Day Parade playing his trumpet. My sister in-law and her fiance Tyson, got married this year and I had the honor of being their wedding DJ. Special moments back in June at the Ramada in Lewiston. If you're reading this, congratulations on everything and you both deserve the best.

We got the kids a kitten from the Androscoggin Humane Society and because the color of his fur, we named him "Thunder." Also, this past year we went to a few adventures including The Yarmouth Clam Festival and the Great Falls Balloon Festival.

Our hopes for 2013 include a trip to Halifax to see Mom. We're bringing my mother in-law to show her where I grew up. First things first, we have to get those passport cards. We also hope do some more on the house. The boys bedrooms need a bit of cosmetic work. On a more personal note, I hope to continue to be smoke free without nicotine replacement.

Vikki will be turning two, Justin will be going into 6th grade. He is so far undecided whether he wants to stay at Park Avenue or transfer to Fairview. Dylan will start high school at Edward Little in 2013. That makes me feel old. Our oldest will be in high school, yikes!

2012 was a great year. Can't wait to see what's in store for 2013! In the meantime, check out our Top 92 of 2012 and Top 92 of the past 20 years rolling through midnight New Years Day.
