Well, Patrick, my boyfriend, is wrapping up his fourth round of fairly high dose chemotherapy for his non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  He is still doing very well!  After each round he is getting nausea and not feeling well a little soon and it stays a little longer. But the doctor at the Alfond Cancer Care Center in Augusta had given him some stuff to help fight that, so it could worse.

So what is the twist? Apparently after spending four months of killing Patrick’s immune system at some point, probably in June, there will come a point where his immune system will not bounce back enough for him to have his treatment. That means he will have to wait a week or two.

Well, at least we know in advance. So next month Patrick will go in knowing he has a good shot at being sent home for another week. We learned last week, that the doctor was pleasantly surprised that his numbers with his blood tests show he was good to go!

I have said it before, I will say it again, we are so darn lucky to have the Alfond Cancer Care Center in Augusta. Not only is Patrick doing OK , his doctors and treatment are all minutes from home. Trust me, none of that good fortune is lost on me.
