Going to “Loose It With the Kennebec Valley YMCA”

Starting Monday at the Kennebec Valley YMCA in Augusta it's the 4th “Loose It With The Y.”  It's a weight loss, get fit, be healthy competition. It lasts ten weeks and for taking part you get a team trainer and if you are not already a Y member you get a membership to use all the great stuff the Kennebec Valley YMCA has to offer. There will be multiple teams of four taking part. The first meeting is Monday, October 1 at 6pm at the KVYMCA, Augusta. Give them a call if you want to get your team in on the fun. Game on!

Walk To End Alzheimer’s on Saturday in Augusta

 

I had a grandmother, an uncle and an aunt with the disease and, although not diagnosed, my mother may have been stricken.  Very sad but very common, unfortunately.  Thanks to good people like Dr. Laurel Coleman (pictured) and Gary Crocker, this year's honorary chair of the walk.

You say it “pay-tonk”. According to Petanque America, the game was created about a hundred years ago in the south of France and is a cross between the Italian bowling game Boccee and horseshoes.

Messalonskee High School’s World Ranked Robotics Team Hosting a Local Competition

This is so cool on so many levels. First of all, Messalonskee High School has a world ranked robotics team.  Each year the teams are giving an assignment to develop the robots. This one shoots basketballs. The team has done very well for its self in competitions. This weekend they are hosting an off season event. Sixteen teams from around New England will be competing.
