As the year closes and a new one starts we do two things generally, we look back to what happened the past year and we look ahead to the next. Maybe we set resolutions or goals and we hope others do better as well. How about 2012? Yes we made it through, apocalypse and all.
It dawned on me during my drive home from work that we have been living in our new house now for six months today. We closed on June 29, 2012. There are only 54 low monthly payments left and the house will be mine in 2042. Have we settled in? For the exception of a few boxes of odds and ends we're moved in.
There are only a few days left until New Years Eve. What are your plans? I know mine. It is the one night a year I can get away with acting like a 21 year old within reason. In past years we’ve enjoyed a small party with our neighbors. The furthest anyone had to go after is next door. This year it's going to be the same party except it’s at our house, which is two miles from our old place. This time our old neighbors and friends are sleeping over just to be safe and responsible.
I have a secret. I am a recovering ‘junk-a-holic.’ I have spent the first part of my adult life trying to organize and hold on to my stuff. I was like an organized hoarder. I had boxes and boxes of stuff. I call it stuff, because I could not tell you what was in those boxes. So every year, around Christmas and New Year I try to do a little de-cluttering.
This season's flu is worse than in past years, in part because we have not seen this flu strain in a while and we don't have immunity. Maine state health officials believe it could get worse before it gets better.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and Santa was good to you. I know my kids loved it all. Strangely enough my boys let us sleep in until 7 am. We had to wake Vikki up at 7:30 because everyone else was getting too impatient.
If you are going to see older family or friends this holiday, it is a great time to make sure all is well. Of course you want to spend time and visits and that is perfect chance to do this. You just need to put on your thinking cap, take a look around and get chatty. You will learn a lot. AARP even has offers some advice.
To all, I wish you a Merry Christmas. May your Christmas Eve be filled with joy and tradition. If you’re young and on your own and or dating or engaged feel the magic with the person you’re with. Whether you go to church or not, take in all that the season has to offer. Don’t be mad, be joyous, be thankful, have fun. Give, receive, eat, and be merry.

We WILL have our Christmas Eve Day Moose Morning Show, I WILL give Renee her gift and I WILL be broadcasting at Kennebec Savings Bank in Augusta at noon as President Mark Johnston plays Christmas tunes on the baby grand whilst people sing. Do you have any holiday traditions you remember from your childhood? Growing up I had a few traditions which at the time seemed more like chores or a price to pay for getting the gifts on Christmas.
