Wow, what a great day. Albeit a long and exhausting day but wouldn't trade it. Yes, it's Father's Day but at our house today it was also a double birthday party and a family reunion of sorts. A couple of weeks ago we had a birthday party for Vikki with friends. Today it was a family affair. So more presents for Vikki and more cake. I said double birthday because my nephew also just turned 20.

I’m always a little hesitant when writing about newsy things I don’t really know a lot about. I did see that the Maine House voted 141-4 on a bill that would require food manufacturers to disclose whether the food has genetically modified organisms or GMOs for short. I don’t really know a lot about these food experiments. I knew experiments were going on in labs and that Monsanto is the king of modifying food but that's really it.

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and took out a bit of time to remember why we have it. Thank you all who served and serve for keeping us free. Of course Memorial Day weekend is also about the beginning of summer and tourist season as well as drinks, camping and food. Barbeques are most common on Memorial Day, but where there was no family gathering this year we made "Memere's Chicken."
