My how time flies by, it was 19 years ago today Bobcat Goldthwait set fire to Jay Leno’s chair on the ‘Tonight Show’. That was one of many crazy stunts pulled on TV. Thought through inspiration, I’d run down some of my favorite crazy moments from TV and maybe get a few of yours.

The Empire State Building is 82 Years Old Today

On this date back in 1931, the Empire State Building opened. It was either May 1st or 2nd of 1987 we went to the skyscraper’s observation deck on a class trip. That 9th grade class trip went from April 29 through May 9th and would have taken us two to three days to get to New York, but anyway it was fun.

Any Places You Loved From Your Youth Disappear?

As I get older more and more of my youth disappears either by a bulldozer, by failure over time or just due to a revamp. At any rate a place in Halifax we used go after the other bars closed has now closed for good. The Palace also known as 'The New Palace' has closed I guess because of changing times and demographics. It was such an institution in Halifax The Barenaked Ladies referenced the bar in a song, 'Hello City.' Anyway the point of this story is not so much to reminisce about an old bar as it is to think back at our young days or in this case wasted youth.

March 29, 1973 (40 Years Ago) We're Out of Vietnam + Dr. Hook Makes the Rolling Stone

On March 29, 1973 two things happened. First, the last of the combat troops left Vietnam. I'm too young to remember the exit and certainly don't remember the nine years leading up to March 29, 1973 as I hadn't been born. Tough for many families that I do know, but then again what war hasn't been hard on loved ones.

March 28, 1986, "We Are The World" Was Heard Everywhere on Radio Simultaneously
