Today, April 22nd is Earth Day! What does this mean to you? Are you one to go out of your way to conserve, reduce, reuse and recycle? Do you buy environmentally friendlier products, ie: CFL bulbs, re-chargeable batteries, etc?
If you're like and like all things astronautical you may want to head out doors tonight at about 9:30 pm. That is the next time the International Space Station is set to fly by over head. If you can't or miss it tonight, there are other dates to come this month.
If you live along a river you know how easy your house can get flooded. I still hear stories about the Androscoggin River flood of 1987. Thankfully this time it wasn’t nearly as bad. More good news is that the river has crested and is falling back within its banks.
The town of Dexter is dealing with a lot of water, raised culverts, and a gaping hole in the ground after heavy rains caused flooding overnight. One entrance to the municipal parking lot is gone and many downtown businesses are closed.
The waters of the Kennebec River keep right on rising throughout the day on April 16. As of noon, the roads leading to the river in Hallowell were all closed due to flooding and in Augusta, it looked like the fast-flowing river was going to burst its banks along Water Street
On Friday we thought we would be able to turn off the heat for good, nope we turned it back on today. We'll try again in the coming days to weeks. Oh well. That didn't stop us from having a summer type weekend.
As March closes and not a moment too soon, April is almost here. A month where hopefully the weather will improve, I mean it has to right? Cabin fever, Spring fever, call what you will but not far away are trips to the beaches and within an hour or so are a few great ones
Today marks the first day of spring! It began at 12:57 pm Eastern time. As I write this it’s pretty nice out. The sun is somewhat out and the snow we got last night is melting. This morning though it was anything but nice.
Believe it or not, spring is just around the corner. This is the first day many ice cream stands open for the season. I know that Fielder’s Choice in Manchester and Sabattus already have, so warmer weather is sure to follow.
