CBS’ cord-cutting All-Access service was bound to bulk up by the exclusive addition of Star Trek: Discovery, but fans rightly balked at notions that the service would still feature ads atop its monthly $5.99 pricetag. Now, CBS has confirmed an ad-free model, but it’s predictably going to cost you.

Where previously CBS All-Access provided the library of CBS content for a cool $5.99 each month, with a minimum of ads, a new $9.99 monthly option will eliminate them altogether. The option arrives well in advance of Star Trek: Discovery’s 2017 premiere, as well the Christine Baranski-centric Good Wife spinoff.

That said, live-streaming of local CBS TV stations will still feature the same commercials as their actual broadcasts, while Variety notes certain on-demand shows will include “promotional interruptions.” Says CBS of the news:

The foundation of CBS All Access is not only about giving CBS fans access to more of the content they want, but also giving them more choice in how they watch their favorite CBS programming. The addition of a commercial-free plan gives our subscribers even more ways to customize their CBS viewing experience – from which devices to whether they watch in or out of the home, and now with commercials or without.

Additionally, where CBS All-Access and Canada’s Bell Media will host new episodes of Bryan Fuller’s Star Trek series on a weekly basis, Netflix has officially picked up international rights to the series. Subscribers in 188 countries will have access to new episodes within 24 hours of their North American debut, while the 727 episodes of five prior series should be made available by the end of the year.
