David Marble Jr. of New York entered no plea yesterday on 2 counts of murder in the deaths of Eric Williams and Bonnie Royer of Augusta. Police say the couple was shot in Manchester on Christmas. One of them called 911 from an isolated dirt road about a mile from their home on the day they were shot. Police say the killings are drug-related. Marble had been living in Augusta. (AP)

Maine remains on a record pace for drug overdoses. Attorney General Janet Mills said yesterday thay new figures for the first nine months of the year indicate the number of drug overdoses put the state on pace to finish the year surpassing last year's record of 208. Gov. Paul LePage has asked lawmakers to make a bill to fund more drug agents their top priority when they return to work next week. (AP)

A Maine man was killed Tuesday when he was hit by a plow truck while using a snowblower at the end of his driveway. 59-year-old Edgar Rhoades of Topsfield died instantly. (AP)

Alex Littlefield of Augusta is being accused of domestic violence assault on a child under 6 years of age. According to the KJ, she allegedly squeezed her 6-month old daughter so tightly at state offices on Anthony Avenue that she is now facing the charges. Tuesday state workers apparently wanted to take custody of the baby and place her with her grandmother. (centralmaine.com)

Two New York men were indicted yesterday in connection with a deadly shooting in Bangor last month. Robert Hansley and Thomas Ferguson are charged with murder and elevated aggravated assault. According to WABI, the two shot and killed Robert Kennedy of Bangor at apartment on Center St. the day after Thanksgiving. (WABI)

TVs and cash are among the items stolen recently from Carrie Ricker School in Litchfield. Police are looking the public's help in finding those responsible for breaking into the school a half dozen times since October, the most recent last week. Anyone with information about the break-ins are being asked to call the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office. (centralmaine.com)

A relief fund has been set up for the recent Gardiner fire victims. A fire at 37 Winter St. displaced 11 people Monday, and the United Way of Kennebec Valley is raising money to help them. If you wish to help, drop off a check at Gardiner City Hall or mail it to the United Way of Kennebec Valley at 121 Commercial St., Augusta.
