People connected to Smokey's Greater Shows are being charged after several people were injured in two June 2015 ride accidents in Waterville.

Sgt. Ken Grimes of the fire marshal’s office said Monday there have been two people charged from Smokey's Greater Shows due to the incidents in Waterville back on June 12, 2015 and June 13, 2015.

Jeannette Gilmore, 61, of Strong, who owns Smokey's Greater Shows, was summonsed today (Monday July 06, 2015) with a civil violation charging failure to train a mechanical ride operator. The charge stems from the accident in Waterville which injured three children on a roller coaster on June 12, 2015 and a separate incident where an adult fell off a flying swing on June 13, 2015.

Also being charged is the operator of the Dragon Wagon roller coaster, Arthur Gillette, 49, of Pittsfield, Mass. He was served with a summons charging him with falsifying physical evidence, which is a class D crime.

Gillette “was attempting to repair or alter the physical condition of the ride before we were able to get there to investigate it,” Grimes said.

Both Gilmore and Gillette are due in court on September 22, 2015 and Gillette can continue to work and Smokey's Greater Shows can continue to operate.
