When I first read this headline on the KJ website I was a little confused. After reading the article, however, I'm still confused. CMP, which is currently dealing with an investigation and lawsuits over 'allegedly' overcharging Maine customers for their electricity service, will be giving 50 million dollars to assist low income customers in Mass. Apparently they're doing it as part of an agreement to win a bid to build a transmission line that will start in Quebec and run through Maine to Massachusetts.

The most interesting thing about all of this? CMP says the chunk o' change is NOT coming from their Maine ratepayers, it is coming from their existing profits. Umm, don't their profits come from Maine ratepayers? I'm still confused. And CMP is still giving tens of millions to Massachusetts. CMP...Central Massachusetts Power?
