How expensive is it to own a car? In Maine, actually, not bad.

Not bad is all relative. Today it was time for me to bring our Tribute in for inspection. Actually, way beyond time, but that's another story. As i type, I'm waiting for the call from ACAR, Al's Certified Auto Repair in Augusta. They always take good care of me, but I know it's not just going to be a sticker that I'll need.

Bankrate.com has figured out how expensive it is to own an automobile in each state. Maine is in the Top 15 states, where it's the cheapest. Their formula is based on the annual cost of gas, insurance and repairs. The national average annual cost of owning a car for the 50 states and Washington, D.C., is $2,223. In Maine, it's $2,119.
