I usually write on lighter subjects, like family expeditions or stories of common interest but today this struck me and I thought I’d go here for your thoughts and opinions.

So the simple question is, do you believe in the death penalty for the most serious of crimes like multiple murders, serial rapists and alike?

In my opinion, the reasons to not have it on the books outweigh the reasons to have it. The usual reasons people have for agreeing with the death penalty, is because it will deter crimes like mentioned above, the other reason some say they are for it is financial, why pay for a murderer's medical, food and lodging?

If someone killed someone close to me, out of vendetta I might agree with the death penalty out of anger, although from what I understand putting someone to death doesn't create closure, nor does it necessarily deter horrific crimes.

At heart I’m opposed to it mostly because I would always fear that the government is executing an innocent person. Can we take that risk? There are other reasons I don’t like it which are less important for example, killing is killing regardless of who is doing it legally.

I’ve laid out how I feel, agree or disagree, this is America, I can take it!
