Demi Lovato was on 'Good Morning America' yesterday morning (June 27) to publicly speak out on her father's passing. Although the songstress admitted that she and her father had their troubles, she isn't letting her grief get in the way of doing something amazing in the wake of her dad's passing.

She told Robin Roberts, "My father and I didn't have the most ideal relationship, but at the end of the day he's still my dad and I grew up with him. He was a wonderful person and it's difficult, but I'm handling okay."

Demi continued about her father's troubles, but added a dose of good news saying, "I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and I've dealt with mental illnesses, but my father also dealt with mental illness and he wasn't able to function very well in society. That happens to a lot of people and this week I'm launching the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program." Can she be any more awesome?

So, what's the Lovato Treatment Scholarship Program? Demi herself is sponsoring people who need mental illness treatment, who may not be able to afford amazing care like the pop star received. The 'Made in the USA' singer explained that she'll be working with a recovery center she's previously been involved with in one person's case at a time. She's starting small and building bigger -- that's how movements get started!

Good thing for Demi, she has the undying love of her Lovatics behind her in this rough period. She explained, "They have stood by me through everything that I've been through in my life, including this past week, it's been a really rough week." You Lovatics really know how to spoil a girl!
