Here we go again. The debate over lip-synching has a new object in Eminem. If you saw Eminem on ‘Saturday Night Live’ (SNL) over the weekend you may have noticed that he had a large amount backing help. Once and for all do you care if someone lip-synchs? In the case of Eminem the other night, I think was okay. The song, “Berserk” is full of samples or “recycled” hooks. I do however care if it’s a band.

I get the fact artists are on TV and other media and venues in part to sell records so I’m sure the artist and label want the mix to sound close to how it sounds on the radio.

If you watch old performances on American Bandstand, everyone faked it. Milli Vanilli obviously were the ones who brought it to light and got everyone to care. The big difference obviously is Rob and Fab of Milli Vanilli weren’t even the artists who recorded the hits from the multi-platinum selling album, ‘Girl, You Know it’s True.’

Can you imagine if the classic rock artists like Van Halen, U2 or the Rolling Stones went on stage and acted out to a recording, there would be an uproar.

I think Lip-synching okay if the dancing routines are top notch, like in the case of Britney Spears or Janet Jackson but other than that, sing the songs live. Ashlee Simpson’s gaff comes to mind when talking about SNL. She should have been able to pull off 'L-O-V-E' or whatever it was was singing back all those years ago.
