It arrived yesterday. Something I used to look forward to getting so I could see my name, address and phone number especially after a move. Yes I'm talking about the phone book featuring the yellow pages.

It will continue probably so long as there is a major land line company servicing the area. The dinosaur is still needed because some people aren't technologically in this century yet but it's importance in the big picture is certainly not what it once was.

I can't remember the last time I looked up the number via the phone book. I always Google or use 411 if I'm not by a computer or smartphone.

There are still a few places in life I think a phone book can be still relevant. If you're new in town and you want to find a Doctor or a lawyer or maybe you want delivery and you have no clue who or what place delivers. Government phone numbers for certain desks at city hall or police, schools, etc . Even then I'll usually just have whoever answers the phone direct my call.

I've lived in Maine now for almost 19 years, I remember Nynex, Bell Atlantic and Verizon. Now they're Fairpoint. I know many people no longer have a "home phone" but I still have a land line. However the phone book unless it has coupons, isn't really a tool I use since Google. Speaking of coupons, I'm bummed, why aren't there any?
