‘American Pie’ Singer, Don McLean, Arrested on Domestic Violence Charge
Singer-songwriter Don McLean was arrested early Monday morning (Jan. 18) on a domestic violence assault charge.
McLean, whose song "American Pie" has become one of the most enduring anthems in rock-and-roll history, was taken to Knox County Jail shortly after his 2 a.m. arrest. According to WABI, he posted $10,000 bail and was released.
McLean, 70, lives in Camden.
According to the Penobscot Bay Pilot, he is scheduled to appear in Knox County District Court in Rockland on Feb. 22.
In 2013, McLean was fined $400 for speeding through a school zone in Rockport.
McLean still performs on occasion including a headlining performance at the 2015 Rockland Lobster Festival.
