You can credit the mild weather during the holiday shopping period, you can credit Governor LePage, President Obama or any other number of factors, but judging by last year's taxable sales it seems that the economy is moving in the right direction.

In 2014, Maine's taxable sales rose by 4% over 2013. We spent nearly $19 billion, far exceeding even 2007's numbers (pre-recession) at $17.5 billion. December 2014 sales alone were 10% higher than in 2013 during the same period.
