According to the KJ, the town of Winslow has temporarily banned the use of fireworks because of drought conditions.

The town council, on Monday night, put a 90 day ban on the use of fireworks because of the drought-like conditions.  Originally proposed as an ordinance that would have required two hearings, the councilors unanimously voted to waive the second hearing as the dry conditions were considered an "emergency situation."

Councillor Steve Russell, a dairy farmer who sponsored the ordinance said, "This is the driest summer I've had since '02."
