The Boston Red Sox and former MVP second baseman Dustin Pedroia have agreed in principle on an extension worth approximately $100MM over seven years. The new contract is set to start in the 2015 season and run through 2021. The new deal includes no-trade protection.

Pedroia's current deal would have paid him $10MM in 2013 and 2014 and included an $11MM club option for 2015. The new contract will start after Pedroia's final guaranteed year under the previous deal, which was signed in December 2008.
