‘Falling Skies’ Season 3: New Photos and Alien Details of “Political” Season
TNT’s alien actioner ‘Falling Skies‘ won’t premiere season 3 until June 9, but that hasn’t stopped the Steven Spielberg drama from opening up its forthcoming season with new trailers, photos and all manner of new details. We know things will look quite different when the series picks up some months following season 2 finale “A More Perfect Union,” but what does star Moon Bloodgood have to say of all the new changes and aliens? Get a sneak peek of ‘Falling Skies’ season 3 inside!
‘Falling Skies’ season 3 will open up some seven months after the shocking cliffhanger of the season 2 finale, but don’t expect a ‘Mad Men‘ level of coverup when it comes to spilling details of the new season. Entertainment Weekly recently had a chance to speak to series star Moon Bloodgood, who admitted to being absent for part of the upcoming season due to her own real-life pregnancy, but also previewed plenty of details regarding Tom (Noah Wyle) and Anne’s baby, as well as the manner in which things have changed since last we left the Human/Skitter war.
It’s seven months since you’ve last seen Anne, so she’s right about to give birth because she’s into her second or third month when she realizes she’s pregnant. So she’s supposed to have the baby any day now. We have now befriended an alien group called the Esphani, and so we are co-habitating with the Esphani and also the Vohm. We now have a new machine that can de-harness children. So I feel like we have progressed in our technology, and I think we’ve kind of adjusted to life in Charleston. This is our new home.
Bloodgood also previewed that her real-life absence would find its way into the series as a climactic exit, but wouldn’t offer any specifics on the storyline. Rather, she explained that much of the season would focus on Tom’s burdens as the “President” of their new-found Charleston community, complicated all the more by the arrival of their new alien allies, who fill a similarly historical role as the show’s reflection of real-life history.
It feels even more patriotic because suddenly our reluctant hero, Tom Mason, becomes president. It feels a little more political, just in the beginning — the politics of becoming a president and dealing with the politics of the power struggle. And our allies are now aliens, so rather than it being the French, it’s the Vohm. [Tom] now being the president changes everything. It changes everything for all of us. Our show was never political, but you see a bit more of that this year.
EW also included two photos of the happy family together, without necessarily explaining the circumstances of the birth. The most recent ‘Falling Skies’ season 3 trailer certainly had us primed for the June 9 premiere, but what say you? Are you interested to meet the 2nd Massachusetts’ new friends? What direction do you think the war will take in ‘Falling Skies’ season 3?
