Restaurant Magazine recently compiled a list of the World’s 50 Best Restaurants. None are nearby but that doesn’t mean we don’t have some of the best, they may just be unknown by the elite foodies of the world.

For me, Mac’s Grill is up there as a favorite. They’re a steakhouse on Minot Ave. in Auburn. Not only do they do a mean steak, their appetizers are great too. If you’re in the area, you must try them out.

For fine dining, Lynn and I last year went to Sedgley Place in Greene on our anniversary. If you’re willing to try something new and interesting, this is a great place. Reservations are needed.

Another local favorite of mine is Davinci’s in Lewiston. They’re an Italian place and the food is awesome. They also these delicious bread knots they serve with the salad while you wait for your main course. Davinci’s is located in the Bates Mill Complex.

In the Augusta/Waterville area, I love Big G’s in Winslow. Massive sandwiches on home made bread. Big G’s has a mind-blowing variety on their menu board. I always come back to the “Bill Cosby” which is a great roast beef sandwich and if I order the full, I can only eat ¾. And I can eat a lot.

Lucky Garden is a great quiet Chinese restaurant in Hallowell. I haven’t been there in some time, but always love it there.

For casual eating, Lisa’s on Bangor St. in Augusta always does it right. Lisa's also does an amazing job catering. I also enjoy Red Barn on Riverside Dr. in Augusta and the A1 Diner in Gardiner.

A few favorites which have gone out of business that I miss, Miller’s in Bangor, Capital Buffet on Western Ave. in Augusta and Moose Creek Grille that used to be on Main St. in Lewiston.

So anyway, those are a few of my favorite places, how about you?
