The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fatal fire that occurred in Ellsworth today (March 15).

According to Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland, an elderly man was found dead inside his home on Surry Road just before 11AM.

McCausland said fire damage was confined to the living room of the house, which is where the man’s body was found by firefighters.  A team of fire investigators are now attempting to determine the cause of the fire.  The man’s name likely will be released later today after relatives have been notified, added McCausland.
