Ryan Flaherty and Charlie Furbush are filling key roles for their MLB teams as the post All Star break schedule begins. They are the two state of Maine guys in the bigs - Flaherty with the Baltimore Orioles and Furbush with the Seattle Mariners.

Furbush played his high school baseball at South Portland. He pitched one year for the St. Joseph's Monks before transferring to LSU.

The 28-year-old lefty specialist is in his fourth MLB season, starting out with the Detroit Tigers and now with the Mariners (3rd place, 51-44)

His stat line...38 Games, 1-4 Record, 4.00 ERA, 27 Innings, 26 K's, 5 BB

Flaherty played his high school ball at Deering HS in Portland. He was drafted in the first round(41st pick) by the Cubs out of Vanderbilt. The Orioles grabbed him in the Rule 5 draft in 2011 and Flaherty has stayed on the big league roster for three seasons.
