Oxford Hills HS senior Andrew Fleming has been named Maine's 2016 Gatorade Player of the Year. Fleming averaged almost 28 points and over 14 rebounds a game for the Vikings.

Along with the points and rebounds, the 6-foot-6 Fleming averaged four blocks and four assists per game. He led his Oxford Hills team to a 15-5 record in Class AA and an appearance in semi-finals of tournament play.

He was one of three finalists for Mr. Basketball in Maine.(Won by Hampden's Nick Gilpin)

Fleming has signed a scholarship to play for the UMaine Black Bears next season.

As a state winner, Fleming now becomes eligible for the National Gatorade Player of the Year. That announcement comes next week.
