According to the KJ, a large portion of downtown Waterville will soon have free wifi thanks to Colby College and the Central Maine Growth Council.

The service's purpose is to attract new business and enhance the experience for visitor's to the city's downtown.  It will go online later this month and will cover a large portion of the downtown area.  According to a press release, it will stretch from the “Hathaway Creative Center to Post Office Square and from the western edge of the Concourse to the Head of Falls"

While Colby College made the initial investment, the Growth Council will manage annual operating costs.
