While enduring Full House couple Jesse and Becky Katsopolis always seemed tailor-made for each other, rabid show fans were forced to accept that actors John Stamos and Lori Louglin weren't destined for the same fate. Still, in a new People feature written ahead of the premiere of new spin-off series Fuller Houseboth stars admitted a single spark once manifested between them — how bright it was, however, is still up for interpretation.

"He asked me to go to Disneyland to see a band," Louglin says in the magazine's new issue, but said the outing felt platonic. "I'm like, 'Was that a date?' He's like, 'Yeah!'"

"As I recall, we ended up kissing," Stamos argues. "That sounds like a date, right?"

Still, with one of Stamos' set rituals considered, it's clear why the relationship might have been doomed from the start.

"He would eat Doritos and smoke cigars before he had to kiss me!" Louglin recalls. "He thought it was really funny."

So maybe romance has never been on the table, but a sense of family love has been abundant among the cast since the beginning ("I’ve never seen a cast bond like this,” show creator Jeff Franklin says. “It feels like a real family."). The connection is so strong, in fact, that it convinced Andrea Barber, who plays Kimmy Gibbler, to temporarily swear off her self-imposed acting-ban.

"I love the craft; I just don't really like the business," she explains, and says she and Candace Cameron Bure, who plays DJ Tanner, have stayed close since the show premiered nearly 30 years ago. "I came back simply for Fuller House."

And while Full House forged a friendship between Cameron Bure and Barber, it also helped others cope with loss. Within a single year, Franklin, Stamos, Bob Saget (Danny Tanner) and Dave Coulier (Joey Gladstone) all lost their mothers, and found comfort in immediate solidarity.

"There was just an instant support system," Coulier says. "I consider those guys my family."

And if history's any indication, that family will be hanging out on- and off-set now that they're back together.

"I used to spend weekends at Bob's house with his kids," Jodie Sweetin, who plays Stephanie Tanner, says. "I actually just mentioned that to him, what that meant to me when I was a kid that he included me in his family."
