Gardiner has no hotels, motels, or B&B's. Even when I used to live there, I thought that was odd. Now, Gardiner is taking a different approach to try and attract a Bed & Breakfast to the city. There is a reward!

Gardiner officials have started an 'incentive program' encouraging real estate brokers and agents to direct potential bed-and-breakfast proprietors to Gardiner. The town is offering a $2,500 bonus to the first buyer broker that brings a successful bed-and-breakfast to a historical building, $1,000 once it opens and $1,500 after a year, if it stays. According to the KJ, Gardiner did a hotel study to determine if there was enough demand to sustain a hotel close to the I-295 exit and it seemed possible. However for now, this reward program seems like a more focused and quicker way to bring lodging to Gardiner than attracting hotel development.
