I have to say, it seems so counter-intuitive to begin making noise in the house when we want our baby to settle down or go to sleep; though that's exactly what we have to do when nap time rolls around. Gavin, your typical 3 week old infant, does the usual 'trifecta routine'- eat, sleep, poop, repeat! When the sleep portion of this stressful cycle rolls around, it's time to get loud. For some reason, he just doesn't like the quiet! Last night to get him quieted down we had to crank the stereo with some Chris Stapleton while dancing around and singing with him. After about 5 minutes of that, BOOM, he was sound asleep. So we stopped bouncing around and turned the music off- bad idea. He almost immediately woke up and began fussing again! Apparently a lot of babies REALLY like loud noises and music because it reminds them of being in the womb.

According to a pediatric medical journal I read this morning (because I have so much free time) the sounds in the womb are as loud to an infant as standing next to a running lawnmower is for adults. Once baby is out in the real-world he tends to miss the loud obnoxious sounds he was hearing within. Of course, I do believe the sounds HE was used to hearing was Keri's stomach rumbling for more Oreos and Ring Dings.. though I could be mistaken.

At any rate, at least for the time being, it seems as though we're going to have to dance around and be loud at bed time!
