Now that the exhaustive search for the titular heroine of the Disney Channel’s forthcoming ‘Boy Meets World’ spin-off ‘Girl Meets World‘ has led to young Rowan Blanchard, and the series itself has been ordered to pilot, fans of the series are again eager to learn who from the previous cast will appear in the new series. Several ‘Boy Meets World’ alum have weighed in on their potential involvement with the series, but what does series creator Michael Jacobs have to say? Could the recent news mean ‘Girl Meets World’ will have even more familiar faces than before?

Apart from confirmed returning leads Danielle Fishel and Ben Savage, ‘Boy Meets World’ fans are undoubtedly keen to see who else from the classic ABC series might rear their heads when The Disney Channel’s sequel / spin-off series ‘Girl Meets World’ comes about. Several cast members have expressed an interest in the possibility, while iconic star Rider Strong notably downplayed his involvement with the project.

Now that The Disney Channel has officially ordered the series to pilot, and cast young Rowan Blanchard as Cory and Topanga’s daughter Riley Matthews, ‘Boy Meets World’ show-runner and ‘Girl Meets World’ executive producer Michael Jacobs has a renewed perspective on including alumni in the new series. Jacobs tells The Hollywood Reporter:

When Rider said that he was not approached about being a part of the show, there actually was no official show. [At the time] it was an idea that Gary Marsh, Adam Bonnett, Corey Marsh and the Disney Channel people called me up asking if I would be interested in doing this. It just got an official greenlight for pilot. I didn’t want to talk to everybody about something that was only a discussion.

Then the world reacted and I got a bajillion phone calls. Rider and Will Friedle and all of the cast said, “What is this? We thought we were done!” We sat down with them and talked about what their roles on the show may be. Whoever wants to be part of this show will be and whoever wants to move on will. The most important thing is to see what the show is and then see what their part in it will be.

Jacobs also revealed that Friedle had joked that he would at least be present for every taping, as the entire cast remained personally attached to the series. Additionally, the series has several other castings to approach before recruiting ‘Boy Meets World’ alum, namely that of Riley Matthews’ Shawn Hunter-esque friend Maya.

Well, what say you? Do you think more ‘Boy Meets World’ star will sign on for ‘Girl Meets World’ now that the Disney Channel has officially ordered a pilot? Who would you like to see return?
